Lazarus Recovery by Domhnach Mór/Cill Dhéagláin There are great sporting stories that will always stick in the mind; About fantastic achievements you would find hard to define; But the Donaghmore Juniors showed their fighting display; In coming back from the dead in Dunderry that day. In the Meath County Final of two thousand and nine; They proudly carried the colours of Donaghmore/Ashbourne; Against Ballinabrackey their spirits were high; To bring home the cup and raise a loud cry. With three quarters time gone and 8 points in arrears; Their chances of winning looked very much lost cause; But two majors from Declan completely changed things around; The Ballinabrackey rearguard were run into the ground. Two points behind now and extra time nearly gone; The Bracks delayed tactics to secure their swan song; The excitement was mighty, the pressure so hard to bear; When the tall Thomas Cotter was brought down in the square. The ball was placed on the spot with our heads in a spin; To win by a point sure it would be a mortal sin; Up stepped Timmy ORegan with that powerful left limb; Like a shot from a rifle, the net bulged again. When Leon Tormey raised the cup so high in the air; We all jumped with joy and so proud to be there; A sensational result stunned the poor Bracks so deep; That they went down on their knees and cried in sad disbelief.
