Poor Start to 2011 League

Date: 13th February 2011
Venue: Stamullen

Full Time: St. Patrick’s 1-08 Donaghmore Ashbourne 1-06
Half Time: St. Patrick’s 1-05 Donaghmore Ashbourne 0-03

With the winter break and bad weather affecting the return to this season’s training was an influence on our opening day performance as our senior team travelled to Stamullen to play St. Patrick’s. Our lads were very rusty and off the pace of the home side. We trailed at the interval by 1-05 to 0-03 with Kevin Lanigan getting the only score from play. The other two scores came from frees by Niall Farrell and Andrew Tormey.
In the second period our lads improved and when Kevin Lanigan found the net early on it looked as if the recovery was on the cards. Despite further scores from Ciaran Ellis, Niall Farrell and another free from Andrew Tormey the home side managed to hold out for a 1-08 to 1-06 home win.
