Donaghmore Ashbourne’s third team kept their unbeaten run alive with a very comfortable away win over St. Mary’s in Donore.
Although the home side started the brightest with two unanswered points within the opening 7 minutes our lads were on level terms with Cathal Field and Andy Kinsella pointing on 9 and 11 minutes respectfully. The sides were level twice again in the opening quarter with Gerry Kelly and Stephen Condon trading points with the home side.
A good second quarter from Donaghmore Ashbourne saw our lads five unanswered points and we could have had a bigger interval lead if we had converted the other five wides we had in this period of dominance. The scores came from Stephen Condon and Colin Sullivan with a brace each and Kelly adding to his earlier score.
The second half continued in a similar manner as the second quarter with Donaghmore Ashbourne winning most of their individual battles. During this half the visitors outscored the home side by 1-09 to 0-03 with quick moving passing and support play. At the opposite end of the field Donaghmore Ashbourne’s defence played well to limit the chances for the home side.
Gerry Kelly’s goal for Donaghmore Ashbourne on 39 minutes which followed points from Dylan Reeves, B. Fitzgerald and Condon ended the game as a contest. Final points came from the boot of J.P Lynch, B. Fitzgerald and another brace from Condon and Sullivan.
Overall it was a good team performance from Donaghmore Ashbourne.
