Donaghmore Ashbourne’s fourth team suffered their second defeat of the leagues when they lost out to Blackhall Gaels in Ashbourne.
Although a low scoring game our lads did have enough possession to take full points but were guilty of too many wides and poor option taking in the attack.
Playing against the wind in the first half our lads trailed at the break by 2-04 to 1-01 with James Deegan getting both scores, the goal from close range and the point from a free.
The second half saw our lads contain the visitors to 2 single points while we were camped in the opposition half. However we could not convert the possession into scores apart from Deegan again converting a free and fisting a Tom O Connor long ball into the next and substitutes Brian Fitzgerald and Padraig Ryan also getting points from play.
If we are to take positives out of this game that we should have won is that although fielding all Junior D players without boosting the team with third team players we managed to compete well with a strong physical Blackhall Gaels Team.
Going forward the team need to convert more of their possession into scores.
