Junior Ladies' first competitive match !
Thursday night the 25th March was a busy evening in the Clubhouse, with the launch of the Trad /Ash music festival AND the first outing of our Junior Ladies' Football team ! They came up against pretty tough opposition in the form of the Royal College of Surgeons Ladies' Football team, led by our very own Senior Ladies Captain, Catriona O' Shaughnessy, in a challenge match.
The RCSI Ladies prevailed, but our Juniors proved no slouches in the scoring stakes, with 5 goals and 7 points scored ! It was a fine team effort, with impressive all-round performances. Next up for the Junior Ladies is their first league match versus Seneschalstown "B" in the clubhouse on Tuesday evening, the 30th March, at 8:00 PM. All support for the ladies would be most appreciated in their debut fixture !

Mixed Weekend for our Junior Teams Our three junior teams were in action this weekend as they opened their 2010 league campaigns. On Saturday afternoon our second adult football team travelled to Seneschalstown and managed to come back down the N2 with full points. On Sunday we had our Division 3B team hosting Moynalvey at home where they recorded a 1-10 to 0-10 opening day victory. Our 4th team travelled to Athboy, but despite playing well lost out on a 2-12 to 1-07 scoreline. The important thing from a club development point of view is that we managed to get 54 different players in action this weekend alone. Final Scores: B League Div1: Donaghmore/Ashbourne 2-10 Seneschalstown 2-08 B League Div3: Donaghmore/Ashbourne 1-10 Moynalvey 0-10 B League Div5: Donaghmore/Ashbourne 1-07 Clann na nGael 2-12 Senior Camogie League Our Camogie ladies had an early start on Sunday morning in their second match of the senior league against Navan O’Mahony’s. The girls battled hard in the first half, and were within a point of Navan at half time. Unfortunately, Navan proved to be the stronger team and their experience won out in the end. Final Score: Donaghmore/Ashbourne 4-01 Navan O’Mahony’s 3-13 Clubhouse Open Day! Join us in the clubhouse on Saturday 20th March, from 10am – 1pm, as the club opens its doors to the community! Your Country, your CallArd Stiurthoir of the GAA, Mr Paraic Duffy, has endorsed a new initiative by Dr Martin Mc Aleese called Your Country, Your Call. Your Country, Your Call is a competition to find and reward two transformational proposals which will help secure jobs and prosperity for Ireland - proposals which could help change the way we do things, allow businesses to grow, employment to be created and prosperity to flourish. The two winning proposals will be awarded a prize of €100,000 each and both will then be implemented with the support of an independent working group, and with a development fund of up to €500,000 for each project. Your Country, Your Call is all about Ireland. It's about helping to create future prosperity, whilst at the same time generating hope, confidence and positive thinking. It is about encouraging everyone in the country to look at what they can do to make use of our innate ability as a people to be creative and imaginative, and generate fresh thinking. Details regarding the application process, other participants and their proposals, possible collaborations and a message board can be found on www.yourcountryyourcall.com. The competition is open for entries until the 30th April 2010, after which the entries will be reviewed, assessed and whittled down to the final two submissions in the middle of September 2010. The GAA believes this to be an inspiring and timely initiative, and is proud to promote and encourage the involvement of members of the GAA in this competition. U16 Meath Camogie Congratulations to Cathy Giblin, Maggie Randle and Shelby Leahy who have all been selected to represent Meath on the U16 Camogie team.
Best of luck to the girls who play their first match, against Carlow, this Sunday at 3pm in Ratoath.

A very entertaining night was had by all at the Cheltenham Preview Night, held on Friday evening last, the 26th February in the club function room. We had a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of horseflesh available, namely our guests Jim Dreaper, Tom Taafe,Adrian Mc Guiness, Patrick Mullins, Andrew Lynch, Brian Flanagan and of course, RTE's Tony O' Hehir. Our own Paddy Joe Moran was his usual witty self during his introduction of the guests , then handed the MC reins over to Tony O' Hehir. Every race was given an in-depth analysis from all perspectives, and when the Preview was complete, the raffle of the array of prizes began. Top prize was a trip for two to Cheltenham, courtesy of Freddie Grehan of Sporting & Special Events Limited. Congratulations to the lucky winner, Ms Eileen Higgins. After the raffle was complete, the successful Donaghmore / Ashbourne Scor team were presented with their individual, and the club trophies, by Executive member Conor Tormey. Everyone then reconvened in the bar, where music was provided by Peter Finnegan and finger food was served. The evening was topped off by Paddy Joe reprising his winning Scor sketch, donning his jockey's outfit for added effect ! A big thank you to all our guests, our sponsors Bambury Bookmakers and Mr and Mrs Jim Finlay, and all the attendees ! The whole evening ran smoothly as clockwork, thanks to the hard work of our committee, and its Chairman P,J, Durkan. Don/Ash Decision Night!
