Lá na gClub
The showpiece of La na gClub was the over- 40’s Dubs versus Royals match which took place at 3:15 PM, twenty minutes – a – side. It was a sporting match with the Royals setting down a marker early on, getting on the scoreboard within the first few minutes. The first half was all- action, with a good save from the Dubs goalie, a penalty converted by Meath, and frees for each side. The half time score was 1-4 to 0-4, to the Royals.
In the second half, the Royals started to pull away, with two more goals and a flurry of points. The Dubs clocked up two points for their efforts, and we had a last-ditch clearance off the line from Meath, saving an almost certain goal. The final scoreline was 3-9 to 0-6 to the Royals. A very big thank you and well done to young Mr O 'Connor, who did the refereeing honours ! It’s also obvious where some of our lady footballers inherited their silky skills ! Feis Cup Win !
The adult footballers overcame St Colmcille's in Piltown on Friday, in round 1 of the Feis Cup, by a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-8.

TradAsh Music Festival
Well done to all involved in the TradAsh music Festival over the weekend. It was great success in all venues, taking place in the Fox Inn Ballymadun on Friday night, Donaghmore/ Ashbourne GAA club on Saturday night, and the Foxes’ Den on Sunday morning . The indoor arena also played host to a World Record attempt, masterminded and organised by club members Ian Jenkinson, Martin Markham and Sean Smith, to get the largest number of musicians in the one spot, all playing Amhran na bhFiann. In addition to attracting musicians from far and wide, we had members of the Black Raven Pipe Band and members of the Garda Band ( in their personal capacity ) taking part. We had musicans of every age. From Siun Douglas and Aisling Meehan ( youngest participants at age 3 ) to John Mc Elearney ( aged 84 !) . After the record attempt was over, the musicians re-convened on pitch one to treat the parents and supporters to a reprise ! Many thanks to Garda Pat Kenny, who directed the musicians, and the social committee and the stewards for their help on the day. On Saturday night also, we had a young musicians’ showcase in the function room, where local aspiring songwriters and performers could wow the crowd ! Chief attraction of the evening was the all-girl band, Those Pesky Kids, who were also winners of the recent Battle of the Bands. Well done to Alan Kavanagh, our very own Star, whose brainchild it was !
Thank You!
Many thanks to all the stewards who helped out in the club over the weekend. Especially to those who helped make the world record attempt run so smoothly on Sunday. Your help was much appreciated over a busy weekend for the club. Stewards Required This Week The club host a number of football championship matches this week and we need all the help we can get to help them run smoothly. In particular, we will need help on Friday as we host a Junior A Championship match at the same time as our Senior Football team are in action. We are hoping that anyone who is not travelling to the senior match will help out with the stewarding in the club. Please see fixtures below for details of matches.
