Under 15 County Stars continue to shine.
Congratulations to Maggie Randal, Cathy Giblen and Shelby Leahy who were all selected to represent Meath in an inter-county Blitz this weekend held in Carlow. The girls were prominent members of the Meath under14 panel this year and their county careers let set to continue by being selected on the u15 team. Well done girls!
U8 Blitz is a great success!
Congratulations to all that were involved in the organisation and running of the final U8 county Blitz of the year which was held in Donaghmore Ashbourne. The Donaghmore Ashbourne team did fantastically winning four out of five games. Well done to mentors Maura, Lorna and Richie.
Intermediate girls make final!
After a hard fought match against Dunderry last Friday night the Intermediate team have secured themselves a place in the Meath Intermediate Camogie Championship Final! This is another great boost for the camogie club this year. An added bonus is that the final is fixed to be played this Saturday the 12th in OUR own club! We hope to see all club members out in their green and white in support of the girls on Saturday. See you all there.
Final Round of Intermediate Championship.
All eyes will be on the Donaghmore/Ashbourne v Dunderry match this Friday at 7pm in Donaghmore/Ashboune. The result of this match will decided who will be contesting in the Intermediate Camogie Final on 12th of September. This is the forth time that we will face Dunderry this year and our matches are always close and exciting so please make an effort to support this weekend.
Peg Kavanagh returns home!
Our girls added another trophy to the Donaghmore Ashbourne cabinet after they won our annual seven a side competition. It was a great day and well organized by Maura Roche. We had teams from Meath and Westmeath participating as well as an A and a B team from our own club. The A team that won on the day was made up by Aideen Ferry, Liz Keagan, Suzanne Keagan, Lizzy Lynch, Mairead Finn, Katherine Mulhaire, Ali Fitgerald, Emma Tormey and Sorcha Ferry. All money raised on the day went to a cancer research charity.
A setback for the intermediates.
It was a disappointing night for the intermediate girls who had a bad loss against Kiltale this week at home in Donaghmore Ashbourne. With one game left in the championship the girls need to overcome Dunderry on the 4th of September if they are to progress any further in the championship. See the intermediate page for match report.
Another Great Win for Intermediates!
Our intermediate team are still going strong in the championship with another fine win over Kilmessan. See the Intermediate page for match report.
Poker Classic
Our fundraiser has been set for Friday the 28th of August. After the success of last year we have decided to run a Poker Classic again this year. Tickets will be €50 and are available from any of the camogie girls or Laura at reception.
Championship Match On Tuesday 11th August.
We are back in action this week after a long break. We will be playing Kilmessan in Kilmessan pitch at 7.30pm. Come support!
Leinster Final confirmed in Donaghmore Ashbourne.
The Leinster camogie final has been fixed for Sunday 16th of August at 2.00pm in Donaghmore Ashbourne! Meath take on Wicklow in their quest for more silverware to add to their ever expanding collection. This is a huge achievement for the club to host such a high profile game. This is a reflection of the friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the club combined with the hard work of the volunteers who ensure that all matches that we host run smoothly. Bronagh Gaughan,Terry Tormey and Janet Lannigan have played a massive role in organization of all of the camogie matches that have been played in Donaghmore Ashbourne. It also helps that we have one of the countries finest grounds and congratulations must go to Greg and all of the ground committee for their hard work all year. Finally this match would not have been played here either if Meath were not participating in it and it is partly down to Donaghmore Ashbourne camogie member Lizzy Lynch that Meath have made it this far. Lizzy scored an unbelievable 2-2 out of Meath's 2-7 against Laois last week in the Leinster Semi Final. Best of luck Lizzy and keep up the great performances!
Best of Luck Lizzy!
Congratulations to Lizzy Lynch who is a prominent member of the Meath team who will be contesting in an All-Ireland Semi Final this Saturday the 8th of August. This is a great achievement for the county and also personally for Lizzy. It seems the harder the challenge the higher Lizzy rises. Everybody in the club is extremely proud of what she has accomplished this year.
Championship Sucess.
The intermediate team finally got back to winning ways when they out-preformed Kilmessan in every position on the pitch. It was a great display of camogie and also a great display of club support. See here for match report. Not at all is lost for the Intermediate team The Intermediate team lost out to a though Kiltale side on Thursday night. However if the girls had more confidence in the beginning of the match and luck on their side the outcome could have been different as the teams were very evenly matched. Round 3 of Intermediate Championship
The intermediate team will restart their campaign for championship success when they face Kiltale on Thursday night. The game will be plated in Kiltale at 7.30 pm. This game comes after a long brake for the leaving Cert and Junior Cert exam period and the Team are eager to get back to action. With their hearts focused on securing a second medal this year to add to their collection the girls need a win on Thursday. Having lost their first game and home to Rataoth and eventually redeeming themselves when they beat Dunderry away the girls know that this game will make or break them for this year's season. Make sure you come support!
Disappointment for the U14s
Well done to the under 14s who played a hard fought match last Saturday in front of a large Don/Ash crowd. The girls were unfortunate to lose out by 2 points and the game could have easily gone our way as we matched Rataoth in every position. Well done to all involved. See the under14 page for more details.
Under 14 Final to be played at home The under14 team will play their championship final this weekend at home in the clubhouse. The game will be played on the main pitch at 12 noon. Best of luck to the team and their management who have been working tirelessly all year for this!
Another Camogie Final!
The under 14 team are the third Camogie team this season in Donaghmore/Ashbourne to make it to a county final. Shelby Leahy, Maggie Randle and Cathy Giblen continue to impress at county level. The girls were out to Westmeath last Saturday in the Leinster under14 championship. Our three girls are not only starting for this strong and unbeaten team but they are the prominent members of the team which is a great reflection on our club. Maggie plays mid-field, Cathy wears the number one jersey and Shelby starts in the forwards. The Westmeath match in particular was a fantastic exhibition of the talent and skill that these three up and coming stars possess. It is a privilege for our club to have our players praised while playing for their county and a tribute to both their own hard work and also the dedication of their mentors in the club.
