For first time in the club's history we fielded a second team in the camogie league. The junior team's first match was at home to Drumree. Our combination of youth and experience worked well on the night and we secured another two points in the league with a 4-3 to 2-0 victory. Sarah Keagan, a familiar face on last year's victorious junior team accounted for three of Donaghmore Ashbourne's goals. The other scores came from up and coming county star Maggie Randal who put 1-2 on the score sheet and Jenny Long who also scored a nice point. Drumree did continue to apply pressure throughout the match and although the score line suggests differently it was a close match right up until the last few minutes when Maggie confirmed Don/Ash’s victory by scoring her goal. The backs were forced to work hard but were fully capable of quashing most of Drumree’s efforts. Under the management of Harry Randal and Maura Roche this team are shaping up to be a dominant force in the junior league with four out of their possible four points secured after being awarded the points from the Dunderry match which was called off. Best for Don/Ash on the day were Maggie Randal, Liz Keagan, Sarah Keagan and Edel Carberrry. Team: C.Giblen, D.Tormey, A.McMahon, J. Lannigan, G. Kane, E.Carberry, A.Byrne, S. Keagan, M.Randal, S. Leahy, J. Long, L.Keagan, S. Keagan, K. Mulhaire, M. Roche. Subs: T. Ní Riordan, C. Nic an tSionnaigh, E. Ni Giobán, D. M Conaty, E. Curley.
