Kilmessan 1:4 Donaghmore Ashbourne 0:1

Our Intermediate Camogie Team started their 2011 Championship with an away game to Kilmessan. From previous encounters the team knew a hard match was facing them. Within minutes from throw in Kilmessan scored a goal, putting the first score on the board. Donaghmore took this as their wake up call and the match really began.  The strong opposition kept the Donaghmore/Ashbournes backs busy, but did their best to keep scores at bay. Another Kilmessan score was on the board before we seen our first point scored by Sorcha Ferry. By half time both teams were very much in the game, with only a goal separating them.

The second half seen both teams step up a gear. The Donaghmore /Ashbourne ladies displayed great skill and fight throughout the second half. Donaghmores forwards were very unlucky not to have gotten scores from great opportunities, but by the end of the game Kilmessan brought on their subs and these fresh legs seemed to help them pull slightly away, scoring another three points by full time.

Overall, the Intermediates were very unlucky not to have come away from the game with their first win under their belt. In different circumstances the girls should have won this game. Having the bare fifteen was one main disadvantgae to the girls. This game will push the team for their next game, which is againt Boardsmill with a home fixture in two weeks time. Hoping to restart their 2011 Championship with a win.
