Championship kicks off in Dunsany. Last month, both teams took to the field in the beginning of the 2010 championship. Our Junior A’s were up against Navan O Mahonys. It was vital that our lads got off to a good start to the competition, as they have aspirations of recreating last year’s Junior B’s success. As Navan were only narrowly defeated by Ratoath in last year’s semi final, they also have ambitions of success for the year. So with this, both teams were aiming to make a point in their first outing. Both teams were evenly matched in the first half and there was nothing splitting the teams. Early in the second half, Navan got through the Ashbourne defence and put the sliotar in the back of the net. Moments after this, the clouds opened and it started pouring rain. With this deterioration on the weather, both teams found it difficult to hurl well and there was scoring was at a minimum. Thankfully, for all watching and attempting to play, the rain eased off and both teams got to hurling again. Ashbourne made a big push to close the defecit and with all their work they managed to turn the tides and put themselves up by 2 points. The game closed out with this score and our lads had one step on the ladder. Team list: Colm Doherty, Paul Finglas, John Riordan, Fiach Ó Loingsigh, Fionán Ó Maolmhichíl, Adrian McManus, Éanna Butler, Colin Garry, Steven Meagher, David Carey, Aonghus Ó Maolmhichíl, , Graham Byrne, Paul Rainsford, Colm Ó Méalóid.

Our Junior B side were also out on the same day in Dunsany. They took on a strong Trim outfit. Both teams were kept up with each other in the first half, but the Trim lads gained a lead in the second half and came out victorious with a 2 point advantage.
