Minor Hurlers vs Kildalkey

Our minor hurlers added another major string to their bow  on Monday night last when they defeated Kildalkey in the Minor ‘B’ league . Added to their tremendous win 2 weeks ago over Kilmessan, it  means we are in with a real chance of making the league final .

In a very hard fought 1 st half a goal by Dara Curran helped Donaghmore\Ashbourne keep the lead at half-time . As expected Kildalkey,  upped their game in the 2 nd half and 2 goals close together kept the game close right up to the final whistle with Don\Ash holding on to win by 1 13 to 2 08.

If I might single out 1 player for special mention for a special piece of play and that is Sam Benville for a magnificent catch late in the2nd half. If Tommy Walsh or JJ Delaney pull off as good a catch on Sunday I’m sure Ger Loughnane will single it out for special mention. Well done Sam.

Don\Ash always seemed to be able to get a score everytime Kildalkey scored and it was great to see the scores spread over 6 plavers; David Carey   8pts , Dara Curran 1 goal , Colm Randle 2pts , Tom O’Connor 1pt , Daithi Murtagh 1pt and Conor Walsh 1pt .
