The minor hurling league for 2010 kicked of on Sunday morning the 28th of Feb with a home game to Moylough\Kilskyre in Killegaland West on pitch 2 at 11 o'clock.For luck this competition is played under "fair play" rules as both teams could only muster 11 players. The home team were very disappointed with the turnout as several players had given a commitment to show but choose not to and didn't even have the manners to text the management team.

Playing 11 a-side on a full pitch obviously gives plenty of room for speedier players to exploit the space and so it seemed in the 1st half when Moylough started with a scoring frenzy scoring 2 10 in half an hour to Don\Ash 8 points. Although we trailed by 8 pts at half-time all was not lost as there were a number of excellent individual scores notably points from David Carey and Conor Walsh in the 1st half. David Carey also rattled the crossbar from a 20 meter free.

In a reshuffle at half-time Conor Walsh was dispatched to wing-back to mark Moyloughs number 12 and it was unfortunate this was not done earlier as Conor had a fine 2nd half curbing Moyloughs best player.

Don\Ash , although playing against the wind , started in a more positive fashion and David Carey scored an early goal. However Moylough answered with 2 pts. Then Colm Randle scored 2 quick goals , one a deft overhead flick and suddenly we trailed by a few points. It was nip and tuck from here to the end with a noticeable point scored from half-back by Sean Kent after a marvelous run up the center. Both sides exchanged points but the half-time deficit of 8 points was just too much for our lads and lost by a solitary point.Final-score Don\Ash 3-12 Moylough\Kilskyre 2-16

After a slow start this was  great 2nd half performance and we now await the same opposition in the championship on Sunday 14th also at home.
