Donaghmoren/Ashbourne Under 14 Football - 7 a side
Dnoaghmore/Ashbourne U14 footballers won the inaugural Meath 7-a-side championship at sunny Pairc Tailteann on Sat. last 12th Sept.
Having won through the regional competition a few weeks ago, our lads were joined by the seven other regional winners in the Finals.
In the first game we enjoyed a comfortable win against our near neighbors Curraha, this was followed by a hard fought one point victory over Gaeil Colmcille. A third win by two points over Na Fianna saw us top the group and qualify for a semi-final meeting with Waltrestown. Our lads played some super football in the semi to set up a second meeting of the day with Gaeil Colmcille in the Final. This time the strength-in-depth and superior fitness of the Don/Ash squad told as we made a blistering start and and won the Final by 14 pts to 7. After the Final the Jim Meade Cup was presented to our captain Michael Deegan.
This was a fantastic performance from a talented Don/Ash team and every member of the panel played an important part in the victory.
The Don/Ash panel was Cian O'Rourke, Liam Finn, Lorcan Nolan, Shaun Byrne, Jamie Murtagh, Aidan O'Connor, Luke Adams, Thomas Mc Govern, Darragh Mc Govern, Kevin Fenton Michael Deegan and Jack Mc Carney replaced the injured Daragh Walsh.
The team Mentors were Maurice Murtagh and Brendan O'Connor.
