U19 Ladies Medal Presention Night

The U-19 Ladies’ Medal presentation of Friday evening the 22nd of May was a resounding success . Manager Ray Lawton fulfilled the Master of Ceremonies Duties, ably assisted by fellow mentor Ali Fitzgerald. The presentation itself was performed by retired  Meath Senior Football legend Trevor Giles. The Ladies were receiving medals for their Minor (U-18 ) 2007 win, plus their U-19 2008 win. The vast majority of players had played on both teams, and so were in line to get two medals apiece. There was also a slideshow of  photos from earlier winning teams which had come together to make up the current squad.

Ray started by giving a quick recap of the road to the Final of 2008, and thanking all who had assisted in bringing the girls to their current level of success. Prior to each player receiving their medals, Ray gave a brief profile of the player and her major achievements and specific talents. We are lucky in losing only three of the panel, Catriona, Jenny and Karen. After the medal presentation, Trevor was presented with a token of the Ladies’ Club appreciation by Ray and Ali, and then the entertainment began, in the form of award –winning karaoke guru Sean Boland.

All of the players got up in combinations to sing a party-piece, then everyone joined in the fun. Special mention must go to Elaine Finnegan and her Dad Peter, who were an absolute revelation in the karaoke – solo, duets, and Peter out-kid-rocked Kid Rock ! Gerry Browne and the clan  and the hurling supremos led by Fiach O’Loinsigh also seemed to have a ball, as well as getting everyone out dancing !
