Santa visits Donaghmore/Ashbourne GAA Clubhouse !
Santa and his two chief elves took some time out from their busy Christmas schedule to visit the club yesterday. Unfortunately, the sleigh developed a mechanical fault at Kilmoon Cross, so the Meath Fire Brigade were on hand to rescue the situation ! Santa and the elves were able to hitch a ride to the clubhouse, to a delighted welcome from the assembled children ( and some of the older children too ! )

DJ Jason provided the sounds cum karaoke, and there was something in Santa’s sack for everyone, even Ray ! Santa and the elves rounded off their visit with a few bars of a song, and a good time was had by all !

Weekend News!
We had very busy weekend at the club, with the final Acorns session of 2009 taking place, and the usual coffee morning routine was supplemented by a party for mentors and children. Juvenile Chairman Ciarán Benville thanked the mentors for their hard work throughout the year, and the children gave club Chairman Gerry Delaney their rapt attention when he said a few words. Former Ireland physio Mick Byrne came along with his grandchildren, and added some more gravitas to proceedings! See the Photos

Saturday evening saw the long awaited Car Draw, with the Salt & Peppers Lonely Heart club Band gig in Aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation taking place in the function room. A big Thank You to our musicians who entertained the hordes until the draw took place. Congratulations to all the Winners, and well done to all the ticket sellers, especially those who braved the cold outside the supermarkets! The winning tickets for the top prizes were drawn by our very own celeb, Paddy Joe Moran who kept all entertained with his banter until the very last ticket was drawn.

On Sunday afternoon, the club played host to the Junior Camogie Final replay between St Annes of Waterford and Lavey of Derry. Congratulations to Lavey who ran out well-deserved winners on the day and a big pat on the back to all the organisers and maors on the day, who ensured the smooth running of proceedings. We also played host to the FAI Cup, when striker Gary O’ Neill of Sporting Fingal brought it along to a Christening Party on Sunday! More Photos
