Our 2016 Captain
Congratulations to Tommy Flanagan on being appointed our Captain for the 2016 season. Tommy has filled numerous roles in the club down through the years including Club Chairman. He is a member of Beech Park Golf Club in Saggart and has been involved with a number of Golf Societies. Tommy welcomes all our Don Ash members back for 2016 and extends a warm hand of welcome any new golfer, no matter the standard to join our society.

2016 Membership Now Due
Members are advised that the Don Ash Golf Society membership for 2016 is now due. Membership can be paid at the bar or at the next outing. Membership is only €25

The Don Ash Golf Society outings for the 2016 Season are as follows:
April 1st – Ashbourne Golf Club (Paul Martin Memorial)
May 20th – Beech Park Golf Club
June 3rd – Ashbourne Golf Club (Annual Golf Classic)
July 16th – Corrstown Golf Club
Aug 26th – Luttrellstown Castle (Captain’s Prize)
Sept 17th – St. Margaret’s Golf Club
Oct (TBC) Ashbourne Golf Club (Scramble Event)

Timesheet will be open two weeks in advance of each outing.

Golf Outing No 1 – Ashbourne Golf Course – 1st April 2016
(Paul Martin Memorial Trophy)

Our Golf Society kicked off their 2016 season with the Paul Martin Memorial trophy in Ashbourne Golf Course. Despite the tough conditions with wind and later on rain we had almost 40 golfers tee off in this event with a great support from Paul friends.
This year’s captain Tommy Flanagan was top of the pile in the winner’s enclosure with an impressive 38 points and in doing so claimed the first round of points for player of the year and more importantly he received the Paul Martin Memorial Trophy for the year. Tommy did admit that he is in a good spot of form at the moment and was delighted to receive the Paul Martin Trophy as he and Paul went back a long way.
The results were as follows:

1st – Tommy Flanagan (playing off 13) 38 points
2nd – John O’Hara (playing off 24) 33 points (B9)
Category 1
1st – Joe Dervan (playing off 6) 30 points
2nd– Eoighan Riordan (playing off 12) 29 points
Category 2
1st- Declan Mulvey (playing off 17) 33 points
2nd- Colm Flanagan (playing off 13) 32 points (B9)
Category 3
1st- Billy Flood (playing off 22) 28 points
2nd- Breege Dervan (playing off 37) 25 points (B9)
Visitors Prize
1st – Jason Martin (Playing off 18) 33 points
2nd – Stephen Maher (Playing off 6) 32 points
